RUF Spring Preview

We are so excited about the Spring Semester.  Here are some of the things we have in store.  You can Check out all the details the Calendar section at the bottom of this page.

Large Group - God is Still on a Mission!

Last Semester in Large Group we worked our way through Acts from the New Testament.  We saw how the early church grew like wildfire, and that nothing could stop God's Plan.  This Spring we will look at Snapshots of God's Mission from the Old Testament.  What do a foreign widow, a rebellious preacher, and an unlikely king have in common?  RUTH, JONAH, and DAVID are all amazing players in God's Perfect and Unstoppable Mission.  Join us on Tuesday Nights at 8:00pm in Tureaud 204 as we see God's Unfailing Love unfold once again.

Small Groups

Small groups are a huge part of our ministry at LSU.  They are a great way to learn the truths of the gospel in a more intimate environment.  Here are some of our small group offerings for this semester
  • How Can I Grow? - What is the key to Christian growth?  Is there some secret I'm missing?  I thought I would be a little further along by now.  We will meet on Thursday afternoons at 2:45 in the RUF Office to work through Sinclair Ferguson's great little book Grow in Grace.  We will have books to purchase at RUF and at the study.  The are $10.  
  • Freshmen Bible Study - Worldview - What does Christianity have to say about life, sex, wisdom, church, culture, science, alcohol, relationships, etc?  Each week in FBS, we will work through some of the practical, personal, and social implications of living the Christian life.  Join us on Mondays at 3:45 in the Union.
  • FIJI Study - We will continue our study - probably on Wednesday nights - on the Heart of Christianity.  If you are a FIJI or know anyone in the fraternity.  Joing us or let them know about our time together.
  • Guys Small Group - We are looking to start a guys small group study in the dorms.  If you are interested in hosting, let us know.  We will walk through one the letters from New Testament.  It will probably be on Thursday Nights
  • Girls Small Groups - Will meet at Emily Watkin's place again in the Cottages.  We will announce soon about the topic.  Probably Thursday Nights as well.
  • Chinese Bible Study - Fitz is leading a small group with a few Chinese girls.  If you know any Chinese students who may be interested in learning more about Christianity or who are already Christians, let them know about this time.  Also, if you are not Chinese, you are more than welcome to come.  This would be a great way to get to know some international students and to talk with them about their faith and yours.
  • Prayer Time - Friday Afternoons we meet at the RUF Office to pray.  Join us

Conferences

Conferences are a huge part of RUF because they give us the opportunity to get away to study something in an in-depth type of way.  They also allow us to get to know each other in much deeper ways.
  • Winter Conference - February 10-11th - in Clinton, LA.  - Help!  I Don't Know How to Tell My Friends about Jesus.  Sharing one's faith can be one of the scariest things in Christianity.  How can we be built up in courage and confidence to boldly and humbly tell our friends, suite mates, classmates, and family about the good news of Jesus Christ?  We will think together about how to share our faith, what it means to share the faith, and how to grow and be committed to God's Mission of bringing people to himself.
  • Annual Camping Trip - Some years it's been hot and we didn't have enough insect repellant.  Some years it's been cold, and we all thought we would die.  This year is should be a perfect mixture of the 2.  It's March 23-24.  Place TBD.
  • Summer Conference - Most of you have heard about it.  It's one of the best things we do in RUF.  Join us the week after exams in Panama City Beach, Fl for a week of teaching, fellowship, and relaxation.  More details will be coming soon, but go ahead and mark your caledars.

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) is the college campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Although we are sent to the campus by the PCA, we welcome students from any and all walks of life.
